    Many schools have players who are already competing in a Talent Academy environment.  Stretching and improving these players within the school environment can be challenging.  This is a new course to enable teachers to more effectively coach the best players, and to become confident that their practices and techniques are consistent with the coaching that will occur within talent pathways.  It will also illustrate how these players can best be deployed to make maximum impact on school teams.

    Technical Skill Developments

    • Developing the individual
    • Modern Technical Skills required to thrive at the top level
    • Penalty Corner Skills in Attack and Defence
    • Consistency with the Talent Pathway

    Key Tactical Considerations

    • Defending; when to commit multiple players to the ball
    • Using 'key' players in effective outlet situations
    • Positioning 'key' players in the transition moment to ensure optimum effectiveness
    • Applying attacking principles to maximise the super strengths the best attacking players

    Physical Considerations

    • Physical Assessments which are completely tailored to specific positions and how to enhance a players ability to be effective in that position.

    Course runs 10am – 3.30pm. Prices include refreshments, lunch and resources. In the event of you needing to cancel a place on a course, please note we require 10 working days' notice. All prices exclude VAT.

    Matt Taylor

    Matt Taylor

    Matt Taylor is the current head coach of Nottingham University, who won the BUCS championships in 2014-15, 2021-22, 2022-23 and 2023-24. He was previously head coach of Beeston HC in the Men’s Premier Division, winning three championships between 2010-2014. He has also helped developed 80+ junior players gain presentative honours for the National Age Squads as well as having coached 45+ senior Internationals. As a player Matt won seven Championship titles with Cannock HC.
