Katie Towner

Katie Towner has 20 years of experience in the aquatics industry, with a particular focus on improving the quality of the delivery of swimming lessons programmes. Katie has worked previously within the Local Authority leisure provision as both a Manager and Courses Coordinator, with responsibilities ranging from improving quality, retention and increasing revenue to creating more aquatic opportunities for people within the borough. This is where Katie found her passion for improving the support that was provided to staff and specifically swimming teachers to deliver a high-quality Learn to Swim Programme.

A role at Swim England (formerly known as The Amateur Swimming Association) presented an opportunity for Katie to work as an Aquatic Officer within the South East, where she supported a number of providers in improving their aquatics provision to increase general participation. The experience she gained increased Katie’s knowledge and confidence in improving a variety of Learn To Swim provisions and was instrumental in securing her a national role within the Learn to Swim Team.

Katie maintains a high profile with the National Governing Body for Swimming, Swim England, as the Head of the Learn to Swim department and Swim England Tutor. Over the last 7 years, Katie has played a key role in the development of Swim England’s world-leading Learn to Swim Programme. She has helped build numerous innovative products that support Swimming Teachers, Operators and Swim Schools delivering Learn to Swim lessons across the UK and Internationally.
