Alex Danson MBE

Alex Danson is a world-renowned forward and is the Captain of England and Great Britain Hockey teams. Alex was just 16 when she made her International debut against Germany in October 2001 and has since played 306 combined International Games (203 England and 103 GB), scoring an impressive 115 International Goals; she is the most capped player in the current England and GB squad.
She was part of the GB squad that won a Gold Medal in the 2016 Olympic games and Bronze at London 2012. Alex was appointed Member of the Order of the British Empire (MBE) in the 2017 New Year Honours for services to hockey. She competed at her fourth Commonwealth Games on the Gold Coast, Australia in April 2018 where she won a bronze medal, having won a silver and two bronze medals at previous Games. Alex is also a board member at Commonwealth Games England.
Having won bronze at four consecutive EuroHockey Championships from 2005 to 2011, she won silver in 2013 before gold in London two years later, and in 2017, Danson captained the team to bronze in Amstelveen.
She currently plays her club hockey in the Investec Women's Hockey League Premier Division for Clifton Robinsons and her previous Clubs include Reading, Klein Zwitserland, Trojans and Alton.
