Lily Owsley MBE

Lily Owsley MBE

Lily Owsley plays as a forward for England and Great Britain and despite only being 24 she already has 138 combined caps and has scored 31 goals.

Lily has played club hockey at her local club Bristol Firebrands and more recently the University of Birmingham. She will be joining Hampstead and Westminster for the forthcoming season.

Despite her young age, she has already won an Olympic Gold medal in 2016, European Gold (2015), Silver (2013) and Bronze (2017). Lily was also named FIH Rising Star in 2016. Lily was appointed Member of the Order of the British Empire (MBE) in the 2017 New Year Honours for services to hockey

Recognised as a natural athlete, Lily is well known for her incredible pace which comes from her early years as a sprinter and runner.

She started playing hockey after joining a new school, and from there she was one of several players on the England women's squad that made their debut against South Africa in June 2013.

Lily has been a regular ever since and has shown her goal scoring ability, often getting her name on the score sheet with important goals; none more so than her equaliser in the final of the 2015 EuroHockey Championships.

She recently completed her degree in Sports Science at the University of Birmingham. Lily coaches several different teams at various clubs when she can. She owns up to being a huge Bristol City fan and is a regular at Ashton Gate!
