Introducing Children to Swimming: From Non Swimmer to 25m

    This is a course for teachers introducing Swimming to children, and guiding them through their journey from non-swimmer to aquatic competency.   It will combine practical and theoretical work to ensure that teachers are confident of the effectiveness and relevance of their lesson content.   Participants will be introduced to the necessary tools, knowledge and skills to become proficient swimming teachers, in line with Swim England’s current best practice.

    • Understanding Swim England ‘s ‘Learn to Swim’  programme 
    • Fundamental movement skills to engage learners
    • Strategies to overcome children’s hesitancy 
    • Teaching core aquatic abilities
    • Introducing basic swimming strokes
    • Use of swimming equipment for enhanced teaching outcomes
    • Master lesson planning techniques and effective pool communication skills
    • Maintaining effective teaching practices throughout all stages of the Learn to Swim Programme Progressive practices and activities
