The majority of open play goals are scored from transition moments: when possession turns over and counter attack is possible. This course looks at the importance of the transition moments, and the ways in which teams can best respond to them. It will present the principles of effective counter attack, clarifying the roles of individual players, alongside the coaching priorities.

Matt Taylor
Matt Taylor is the current head coach of Nottingham University, who won the BUCS championships in 2014-15, 2021-22, 2022-23 and 2023-24. He was previously head coach of Beeston HC in the Men’s Premier Division, winning three championships between 2010-2014. He has also helped developed 80+ junior players gain presentative honours for the National Age Squads as well as having coached 45+ senior Internationals. As a player Matt won seven Championship titles with Cannock HC.
