Plas y Brenin has set up a fund to help voluntary leaders in the outdoors gain qualifications

by ICE Education

Who is the fund for?

Plas y Brenin (The National Mountain Centre) has a pot of money available to help volunteer leaders in the outdoors access the training they need and deserve in order for them to perform better as a leader or coach in mountain sports.
Currently aimed at furthering hillwalking, mountaineering and climbing in England, the funding available comes in the form of a direct subsidy on training or assessment courses at Plas y Brenin, The National Mountain Sports Centre.
The amount of subsidy is linked to an index of areas where those interested in becoming outdoor leaders may be lacking in opportunity or advantage.
In short, The Future Leaders Fund makes the training you need as a volunteer leader more affordable.

Who can apply?

Any volunteer leader in England with a genuine commitment to encouraging and developing others in the outdoors.
Currently the fund is available to support leaders in hillwalking, mountaineering and climbing in areas of England where leaders and young people may be lacking in opportunity or advantage.
Three are no age restrictions although you must be old enough to be eligible to undertake the training or assessment course you are applying for according to the conditions of the relevant National Governing Body.
