The RFU's "Don't be a Headcase" Course
As part of its ongoing commitment to player welfare, the RFU strongly recommends that teachers involved with coaching sport at any level should complete the RFU's "Don't be a Headcase" online concussion course This should then be repeated at regular intervals to ensure up to date concussion awareness.
By entering their details, candidates who pass the course will have this registered on their "My rugby" profile and completion certificates can be printed off the site. The course is free, and takes approximately 30 minutes to complete. This training is in line with the recently published Concussion Guidelines for the Education Sector; supported by the Sport and Recreation Alliance, the Faculty of Sport and Exercise Medicine, the Royal College of Emergency Medicine and the Society of British Neurological Surgeons. This ensures that the principles learnt can be applied to any activities, not just rugby union.
The course can be found at www.EnglandRugby.com/Headcase along with information and resources for coaches, players, match officials, parents and healthcare practitioners.
